FMA publicly warns financial adviser for KiwiSaver advice in wake of COVID-19
The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has issued a public warning to a financial adviser due to advice he gave clients in relation to their KiwiSaver and other investments following COVID-19 market volatility.
Roger David Gannon, an Authorised Financial Adviser (AFA) of Gannon Insurance Brokers, sent a bulk email in March 2020 to his clients recommending they immediately move their savings in KiwiSaver plans and similar investment funds to ‘low risk’ funds in the wake of market uncertainty caused by COVID-19. The FMA was alerted to the communication after receiving a complaint from one of Mr Gannon’s clients.

Brooks High School teacher accused of sexual contact with a student could be terminated

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) - The Lauderdale County School Board is working on a termination letter for Ashton McCluskey.
McCluskey was indicted on two felony charges of a school employee having sexual contact with a student under the age of 17.
She has been on administrative leave from her position at Brooks High School since January 8th.
The Lauderdale County Board of Education’s attorney, James Irby, said they will be sending the notice of the proposed termination letter this week, or next.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â Things got salty at the Corpus Christi City Council meeting Tuesday night when the topic of proposed desalination plants came up.
Port of Corpus Christi leaders were scheduled to give the council a long-awaited briefing on the status of those plants that would remove salt from seawater for use at homes, businesses, and industries.
Council members were quick to criticize the port for poor communication.
âWe want to see (the port s) cooperation with the City of Corpus Christi as we go forward through the permitting process for desal plants (and) the construction of desal plants, council member at-large Mike Pusley said. I think it s vitally important to this community.â
